Palmyra field hockey allowed one goal in the first quarter before roaring back with five unanswered scores to beat Gwynedd Mercy 5-1 in the opening round of the PIAA 2A Championship.
Kendall DeLuca put the Monarchs on the board early in the first quarter, but Addy Barger tied the game before the end of the first half.
Jovie Weaver earned the go-ahead goal in the third quarter off an assist from Allie Fink and added one more score before the end of the period.
Fink scored twice in the fourth quarter, including a goal off an assist from Weaver with less than a minute remaining.
Both Palmyra’s Abby Bennett and Gwynedd Mercy’s Paige Becker finished with three saves.
Palmyra will face Hershey in the quarterfinals after Hershey beat Fox Chapel.
