Four children’s hospitals on Monday received millions of dollars in state funding to bolster their pediatric cancer research efforts.
At a press conference in Jacksonville where he was joined by first lady Casey DeSantis, State Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo and Agency for Health Care Administration Secretary Shevaun Harris, the governor announced four pediatric hospitals were each receiving $7.5 million grants: Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami; Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in Tampa; Wolfsons Children’s Hospital in Jacksonville; and Nemours Children’s Hospital in Orlando.
The grants are possible because the Legislature agreed to include $30 million in the fiscal year 2025-26 budget for what the DeSantis administration calls a “pediatric cancer incubator.”
