Triple-murderer Erin Patterson is pushing to have her conviction quashed, claiming there was a "substantial miscarriage of justice" during her trial.

Patterson is serving life in prison for the murders of her parents-in-law Gail and Don Patterson and Gail's sister Heather Wilkinson, and the attempted murder of Heather's husband Ian.

She would be 82 years old when eligible for release, having been sentenced to a 33-year non-parole period.

On Monday, Patterson formally lodged documents to appeal her conviction.

In documents released by the Supreme Court of Victoria on Wednesday, Patterson raised several issues she said amounted to a "miscarriage of justice".
