15-year-old found shot on Pa. city street died from abdominal wound, coroner says

WILLIAMSPORT — The 15-year-old boy discovered wounded on a Williamsport street early Saturday died from a single gunshot to the abdomen, Lycoming County Coroner Charles E. Kiessling Jr. says.

Brailynn Johnson of Williamsport died in the operating room of UPMC Williamsport at 1:27 a.m. due to uncontrollable blood loss, he said.

The youngster lived with his mother in Williamsport but attended school in South Williamsport, Kiessling said.

The South Williamsport Area School District on Saturday issued a statement to the community that one of its students, without identifying him, had died and that counseling and support services would be available

An autopsy determined the wound was the cause of death and the manner was homicide, the coroner said.
