The Marshall University men’s basketball team got a key return in its season-opening win on Monday.
Wyatt Fricks led the Thundering Herd in a 78-72 road win over UMass on Monday in the MAC-SBC Challenge in Amherst, Massachusetts.
In his return from an ankle injury in preseason exhibitions, Fricks finished with 16 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals despite fouling out.
Fricks scored 14 of his points in the second half and shot 5 for 8 in 14 minutes.
“Wyatt has been here for five years, and he’s put in the work,” Marshall coach Corny Jackson said. “He’s seen what it takes. He’s had guys before him like Obinna [Anochili-Killen] and Nate [Martin]. He just has to trust his work.
