Mandya: The farmer who attempted self-immolation at Kaveri Park in Mandya city on Tuesday morning has died while undergoing treatment at Victoria Hospital in Bengaluru. The deceased has been identified as 55-year-old Manjegowda from Moodanahalli village in KR Pet taluk.

According to police, Manjegowda had poured petrol on himself and set himself on fire in protest, reportedly over a land dispute. He was rushed to Victoria Hospital with severe burn injuries but succumbed on Wednesday.

Karnataka’s Agriculture Minister and Mandya District In-charge Minister N. Cheluvarayaswamy visited Victoria Hospital today, paid his last respects to the deceased farmer, and consoled the bereaved family members.
