CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - There will be several food distribution sites in Northeast Ohio Wednesday and officials said hundreds of families are expected to attend.
The government shutdown has now lasted for 36 days and has stopped federal programs, like SNAP, and also left federal workers without paychecks.
In Cleveland, the May Dugan Center will open their pantry from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. The center is located at 4115 Bridge Ave.
A representative from the May Dugan Center said they have expanded its food pantry capacity by 80% to meet a “dramatic increase” in demand as 190,000 people in Cuyahoga County lost their SNAP benefits.
The Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank will have two food distribution sites Wednesday.
Their mobile Pop-Up Pantry will be at Carrollton Church of Christ from Noon-2 p.m
