Actress Shamim Akbar Alli, best known for her role in the 2021 film In the Month of July, has accused an autorickshaw driver of assaulting her in Mumbai’s Mira Road area. The alleged incident occurred on Saturday afternoon, November 1, while she was travelling with her five-year-old daughter. Police have since registered a complaint and launched an inquiry into the matter.

According to Shamim, the altercation began when she asked the driver to stop near her daughter’s school around 2:45 pm. She told Mid-Day, “The driver got frustrated and started abusing me, asking why I had stopped the rickshaw there. He demanded I pay the fare immediately because he was in a hurry. I quickly picked up my daughter and got back into the same rickshaw, asking him to drop us home."
