New Delhi: The United States conducted a test launch of an unarmed Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) from Vandenberg Space Force Base, California on Wednesday. The routine test, designated as GT 254 comes shortly after reports of Russia test launching nuclear capable missiles.

According to The Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC), the test aimed to validate the system’s reliability, operational readiness and accuracy. The Minuteman-III is capable of carrying nuclear warheads and has a range of up to 14,000 kms.
