Oviedo, which lost five-set region final matches in 2023 and 2024 to fall just short of the state tournament, turned the table in its Class 6A girls volleyball regional final.
The Lions (23-6), playing 470 miles from home, pulled out a wild 25-14, 17-25, 25-23, 17-25, 15-10 against No. 1 ranked Gulf Breeze (26-4). That avenged a year-old loss to the Dolphins.
“I’m very proud of my kids. It is not easy to travel seven hours and beat a very talented team in a tough atmosphere,” said Oviedo coach Jen Darty . “We stayed determined and had a lot of memories from a year ago that kept us focused and fighting until the finish.”
