Missions to take humans to the Moon and build homes there are currently active. Now, new footage has emerged showing a meteor striking the Moon. The video, which shows a meteor impact that took place on the night of October 30, has gone viral on social media. It was amateur astronomer Daichi Fujii who shared this rare footage.

Since the Moon has no atmosphere, meteors do not produce bright streaks of light as they do on Earth. Instead, they crash directly onto the lunar surface, creating bright flashes and new craters. The impact occurred east of the Gassendi crater, a well-known lunar landmark. Experts believe it may be linked to the Southern or Northern Taurid meteor showers.
