Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg Emergency Department

Authorities are investigating the death of an 8-week-old baby girl from Lehigh County.

The Lehigh County Coroner’s Office & Forensic Center was notified around 3:35 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, by Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg Emergency Department regarding the infant’s death, according to Coroner Daniel A. Buglio.

The baby, from Coplay, was pronounced dead at 2:35 p.m., Buglio said.

An autopsy and radiology were completed Wednesday at the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office & Forensic Center. The cause and manner of death remain under investigation.

The Coplay Borough Police Department and the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office are assisting with the case, officials said.

“Coroner Buglio and the entire staff of the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office & Forensic Center extend their deepest condolences to the family during this difficult time,” the office said in a statement.
