Maharashtra's municipal councils, and nagar panchayats are scheduled for elections on December 2, state election commissioner Dinesh Waghmare said on Tuesday, November 4.
According to Waghmare, 246 municipal councils and 42 nagar panchayats will go to polls, reported news agency PTI.
However, election schedule for 29 municipal corporations, 336 panchayat samitis and 32 zilla parishads were not announced.
The counting of votes will take place on December 3, Waghmare said in a press conference in Mumbai.
"Voting will be held to elect 6,859 members and 288 presidents in these local self-government bodies," Waghmare said, as per PTI.
He added that the number of eligible voters in these elections is 1.7 crore, and there will be 13,355 polling centres.
