A gang in Delhi took inspiration from the popular Netflix series ‘Money Heist’ to steal Rs 150 crore by duping nearly 300 people across the country by promising them strong returns in the stock market.
The Delhi Police arrested Arpit, Prabhat, and Abbas, who named themselves after characters in the series to cheat people out of money. Police said they used the screen names partly inspired by the series to hide their actual identities, NDTV reported.
Arpit, a lawyer by profession, named himself the “Professor", while Prabhat Vajpayee, who holds a Master’s in Computer Science, named himself “Amanda". Abbas took the name “Freddy." Together, they created several secret groups on social media, where they lured people with the promise of high returns on investments in the stock market.
