The City of Stirling is preparing to trial the return of bulk waste verge collections in some suburbs, more than a decade since the service was scrapped.
A proposal to run a two-year trial of bulk waste verge collections in Balga, Mirrabooka, Nollamara and Westminster, starting July 2026, was successfully passed 9-5 at Tuesday’s council meeting.
In 2014, junk verge collections in the city were replaced by an on-demand skip bin service, under which residential property owners or renters who pay for waste services are entitled to one free skip bin per year, with the option to book another for $87.55.
Under Cr Michael Dudek’s proposal, each of these suburbs will get one scheduled bulk waste pickup while still retaining the right to order one skip bin on demand.
