FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - Cheers echoed through Fresno's Tower District Tuesday night as voters watched the early results for the Prop 50 Special Election trickle in.
Issac Gudino is the California Democratic Party Regional Director for Region 5 and says their team planned for weeks.
"To put it bluntly. This isn't a referendum to give us five free votes: It's a referendum to give us a shot. A better shot at five votes," he said.
Assemblymember Esmeralda Soria was one of the lawmakers who attended the election watch party.
She called the night a win for democracy.
"What we wanted was to give the voters the opportunity to tell us like, hey, we want something different for this next 2026 election. We want an opportunity to be able to check our president and his actions because
