Yuesheng Wang, on trial at the Longueuil courthouse where he is charged with spying on Hydro-Québec for the benefit of China while he worked for the utility, said Wednesday he began to notice something was wrong when he returned to Canada during the summer of 2022 after visiting family in his home country.
Wang, 38, is testifying in his defence in a trial that began weeks ago before Quebec Court Judge Jean-Philippe Marcoux. He is charged with obtaining a trade secret for the benefit of China to the detriment of Canada’s economic interests, fraudulently obtaining a computer service, knowingly obtaining a trade secret and breach of trust.
