Mangaluru, Nov 5: The Dakshina Kannada district cyber crime police have arrested a Bengaluru man who allegedly cheated a victim of Rs 24,78,274 through a fake Instagram account claiming to perform instant rituals to resolve personal issues.
The accused, Vasudeva R. (32), a native of Gokula 1st Stage, Yeshwanthpur, Bengaluru and currently residing in Srinivasanagar, Sunkadakatte, Bengaluru, had created an Instagram profile offering to conduct special poojas and prayers to “solve problems instantly.” Believing the offer, a victim transferred nearly Rs 24.78 lac to him.
Acting on a complaint, police traced and arrested Vasudeva on November 4. They seized four mobile phone handsets used in the offence and Rs 20,300 in cash, with the total value of seiz
