BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - North Dakota Health and Human Services officials submitted their application for the federal rural health grant.

North Dakota is set to receive more than $500 million over the next five years to improve rural health access and quality. Additional funding will come depending on how the application compares to the other states.

The Rural Health Transformation Program provides billions of dollars through the One Big Beautiful Bill.

Health and Human Services officials said the biggest priorities of this funding are to develop more workforce and strengthen telehealth programs.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services is expected to announce awards by the end of the year.
