A few of Oregon’s Medicare beneficiaries have gone to great lengths to enroll in Medicare supplement (Medigap) insurance – even moving to trigger a right to buy it. More on that in a bit.
But for many Salem-area Medicare beneficiaries, such radically inconvenient and expensive maneuvers won’t be necessary.
Because of two insurance companies’ decisions no longer to offer Medicare Advantageinsurance to Salem-area beneficiaries, these people will have guaranteed issue to enroll in Medigap insurance. The right to enroll extends for 63 days from the loss of their Medicare Advantage insurance, or until the end of February 2026.
