Congressman Byron Donalds (R-FL) has sent a direct appeal to Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD), calling for the elimination of the legislative filibuster in the U.S. Senate. Donalds argues the 60-vote threshold is the “single greatest obstacle” to fulfilling the mandate given by American voters to enact bold, conservative reforms.

The letter on Wednesday states that with unified Republican control of the White House and Congress, the public expects results, not “procedural paralysis.” Donalds criticizes the Democratic minority for “weaponizing this impractical barrier” to obstruct key legislative priorities.
