NEW DELHI: The first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections is being held today. Voting is taking place in 121 of the 243 assembly constituencies. Polling will be held from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Voting for the remaining 122 seats will take place on November 11, and the counting of votes will be on November 14.
A total of 2,616 candidates are contesting across the two phases. The NDA and the Mahagathbandhan are facing each other in a direct contest. Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party is also trying to make its mark.
Bihar Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, along with Mahagathbandhan leader Tejashwi Yadav, are among the key candidates in the first phase.
