The Barrington Committee on Appropriations — the board tasked with reviewing the proposed school department and municipal government budgets each year — has a new member.

On Monday, Nov. 3, the Barrington Town Council appointed longtime Barrington resident David Lauria to the COA. Lauria fills the seat vacated by Mike Raia, who announced his decision to step down shortly after the committee meeting schedule was announced.

“I run a small business. I had a number of work trips, client obligations, and family conflicts that overlapped with the COA schedule this upcoming year that I couldn't rearrange,” Raia wrote in a message to the Barrington Times. “I would have been absent for at least five meetings.
