To combat the invasive green iguana, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission on Wednesday announced new changes to rules regarding their capture.

According to the FWC, commissioners approved rule changes regarding the trapping and transportation of green iguanas.

The rule changes will be applied to Chapter 68-5, Administrative Code , which provides guidelines on how to handle non-native species in the state.

Under the new rule changes, it will encourage more people to remove the invasive species by providing both practical and secure options for outdoor caging of iguanas that are possessed by permittees, officials said.

FWC also said the new changes give guidance on transporting or collecting iguanas to either sell them or humanely kill them.
