Memorial Stadium’s last remaining grandstand column was demolished Wednesday morning, the final major step before the 78-year-old multipurpose venue’s complete renovation on-site.
The $150 million transformation, set for completion by Fall 2027, is managed through a partnership between stadium owner Seattle Public Schools, the City of Seattle and One Roof Stadium Partnership (a consortium of Seattle Kraken, One Roof Foundation and Climate Pledge Arena).
The new Seattle Center facility, with an expected capacity of 8,000 seats, will continue to prioritize Seattle Public School’s students, hosting the region’s biggest high school athletic games and graduation ceremonies. The stadium will also host concerts, professional sports games and festivals for the community.
