LOS ANGELES — Tom Bergeron will return to "Dancing With the Stars" as a guest judge for the show's 20th anniversary special Nov. 11, marking his first appearance on the ABC reality dance competition series since his departure as host five years ago.
"It's a bit surreal. I'm really looking forward to it," Bergeron said Wednesday in an interview with ABC.
Bergeron said he's been tuned in to the current season and has been "dropping hints" about his return by sharing memories on social media. The episode will feature a special dance challenge and appearances from former pros and contestants, according to Bergeron.
Bergeron hosted "Dancing With the Stars" from its launch in 2005 through 2020, spanning 28 seasons. He won an Emmy Award for his work on the show.
