The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation plans to replace the two bridges carrying Route 422 over Pleasant Valley Road in Muddy Creek, Butler County, at a price tag of $14 million in state funding.
The pair of new single-span bridges will have higher vertical clearances over Pleasant Valley Road, upgraded guide rails and improved roadway drainage, PennDOT said in its project presentation.
The project site is located just south of Lake Arthur in Moraine State Park, between Prospect and Portersville.
Once completed, the bridges will each have two 12-foot-wide lanes — one bridge heading eastbound, the other westbound — and 8-foot-wide shoulders.
