LINCOLN, R.I. (WPRI) — The convicted child rapist found guilty last year of casino fraud will remain behind bars for the rest of his sentence, 12 News has learned.

The Rhode Island Parole Board denied Richard Gardner's parole request Wednesday "without further consideration."

Gardner was sentenced to serve at least eight years in prison after he pleaded no contest to felony fraud charges back in March 2024.

The 59-year-old was arrested in February 2023 after investigators discovered he was illegally accessing players' rewards accounts at Bally's Twin River Casino. Gardner reportedly used the players' rewards without their knowledge and claimed $2,375 worth of prizes on their behalves.
