WILKES-BARRE — A man from Wyoming apologized for assaulting a woman and her teenage daughter with a chair and scissors during a drunken tirade about wrapping Christmas gifts inside a Plains Township apartment.
Jose Luis Rivera, 33, of East Sixth Street, was sentenced by Luzerne County Judge Joseph F. Sklarosky Jr. to two years, six months to six years in state prison on charges of aggravated assault and simple assault. A jury convicted Rivera on the charges following a trial in September.
Plains Township police responded to a domestic disturbance at an apartment on South River Street and had to kick open the door on Nov. 23, 2024, according to court records.
