PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - OSF HealthCare has announced the new leader of the OSF HealthCare Cancer Institute.

Dr. James L. McGee has been named president after serving as the institute’s director since it opened in February 2024. McGee has been with OSF since 1988 and is recognized across Central Illinois for his dedication to early cancer detection and patient care.

Under his leadership, the Cancer Institute has launched advanced treatments like Proton Beam Therapy and expanded its cancer research partnership.

McGee said he welcomes the position as it allows him to continue the mission of bringing world-class cancer care to patients in rural America.

In his new role, McGee’s new responsibilities include driving the vision of the Cancer Institute and establishing a world-leading cancer
