In the last year, The Salvation Army has seen a 12% increase in individuals and families seeking food assistance.

Many of these are first-time requests, driven by the lingering effects of the pandemic, inflation, rising housing instability and economic challenges.

Over the last few months, demand has spiked by double-digit percentages compared to last year.

"As of right now we are seeing an increase in need of about 60% for our normal services." Major Peter Pemberton said.
