CLEVELAND — Just over two weeks after he delivered his third State of the Schools Address, Cleveland Metropolitan School District CEO Dr. Warren Morgan announced "a set of strategic and compelling recommendations" to the Board of Education during a Wednesday meeting.
Those recommendations include the proposed closing or consolidation of 29 schools across the district as CMSD faces what leaders call a perfect storm of challenges: declining enrollment, rising costs, and shrinking funding. All told, the district would vacate an estimated 18 buildings and end lease agreements with five others.
