Kenai Peninsula College (KPC) has been awarded a competitive $1.4 million, 5-year federal grant to establish a TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) program for 140 eligible first-generation college students from low-income backgrounds and/or those with disabilities. The program is designed to enhance academic success, retention, and graduation rates.
The funding will help remove barriers to higher education and provide targeted support to help students navigate their college journey successfully.
“It’s a long-standing national program, and has been going on for decades,” said Sara Rinearson, Director of Student Services. “Students who are served by this program are going to be helped with persistence and completion of degrees at KPC.”
