PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A single-car crash off Hwy 238 on Monday claimed the life of a 36-year-old Grants Pass man, Oregon State Police said.
The crash took place just after midnight near milepost 8 in Josephine County.
Investigators say that the driver of a Subaru Impreza "failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway, struck a power pole, and rolled several times before catching fire."
The driver was able to escape from the car and only had minor injuries. However, the passenger, Jacob Mix, was declared dead at the scene.
"Impairment and speed are considered primary factors in causing the crash," OSP said.
