According to police, at about 6:30 p.m., Kalima was driving a 2006 Honda sedan eastbound on Kuamoo near Melia Street, when she crossed a center line and collided head-on with a 2019 Nissan van heading in the opposite direction.
Kalima was transported to Wilcox Medical Center, where she later died.
The driver of the Nissan van, 50-year-old man from Kapaa, was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police closed Kuamoo Road was closed in both directions for approximately 2.5 hours while conducting an on-scene investigation.
Preliminary findings indicate that speed appears to be a contributing factor, police said. Toxic
