WILKES-BARRE — Local businesses announced they will help community organizations during challenging times.

Geisinger, PPL and Gerrity’s each announced they are doing what they can to help put food on the tables of people in need.

To help provide support where it’s needed most for people potentially impacted by the federal government shutdown, Geisinger is contributing $275,000 to a network of Pennsylvania food banks that distribute resources to local food pantries and cupboards throughout our communities.

A news release said that includes Central Pennsylvania Food Bank serving our central, north-central and western regions, and CEO Weinberg Food Bank serving the northeast region.
