LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. ( WWSB ) — Manatee County will host a family bike safety event Saturday morning at Lakewood Ranch Library, featuring an on-road bike ride and educational activities designed to teach traffic safety rules.

The event includes a mass bike ride through Lakewood Ranch with sheriff’s deputies managing traffic flow and cones separating bicycles from vehicles. Families will experience riding on roads in a controlled environment.

“Safety. At the end of the day, when we are out and about, we want to make sure that everybody reaches home safe and sound,” said Vishal Kakad, Manatee County traffic engineer.
