ROCKFORD, Mich. — On Tuesday, some voters in Rockford rejected a public schools bond proposal that would have added air conditioning to some elementary schools, updated infrastructure and upgraded playgrounds, among other things.
Now, some of those voters are speaking up about why they voted "no."
“I voted no on the bond proposal,” said Abigail McFarlan.
She's among other voters who rejected the public schools bond proposal in this year’s election, and she said it came down to what was in it.
“A lot of parents want air conditioning in their schools, but they don’t want to be swindled into a new sports facility,” said McFarlan.
Brenda Wodarksi said the district doesn’t need to create any new bonds, but instead, they need to work with the money the district already has.
