CASSVILLE, Mo. (KY3) - The Cassville Fire Protection District will see its first budget increase since 2005 after voters approved a sales tax measure to boost funding for the all-volunteer department.

“As everybody knows, the cost of everything - fuel, supplies, equipment - has increased. Our funding hasn’t increased at all, just very little,” said Deputy Chief Chris Reibert.

The district is currently funded by a property tax levy, which will be reduced as the new sales tax takes effect. Officials said the sales tax approach will allow tourists visiting the area to contribute to fire protection services.
