WASHINGTON — A jury began deliberations Wednesday in the trial of Sean Dunn, the man who became known as the “DC Sandwich Guy” after video of him throwing a submarine sandwich at a federal agent went viral, but was sent home for the night without reaching a verdict.
Dunn’s defense team rested its case without calling a single witness, meaning Dunn did not take the stand in his own defense. Attorneys on both sides acknowledged the basic facts of the case are not in dispute.
Dunn is charged under U.S. Code 18 Section 111(a), which makes it a crime to forcibly assault, resist, oppose, impede, intimidate or interfere with any law enforcement officer engaged in the performance of official duties.
