EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - It’s go time for renovations at Garvin Park in Evansville.
Crews have kicked off phase one.
It’s Evansville’s oldest city park, and it’s getting a brand new activity zone.
It features a brand new playground, a basketball court, and a four-seasons bathroom - the first of its kind in an Evansville park.
Officials say the necessity for the park came when the old playground was demolished to make way for the Deaconess Aquatic Center across the street.
That’s when they say a master plan was put in place to fund the park.
They say playgrounds like this one are important to health, both physical and emotional.
“We really wanted to create something that was for all ages,” said Parks and Rec Executive Director Danielle Crook. “We wanted to create a space where peo
