Mayor Eric Adams posted a brief video message Tuesday night, accepting the results of the election.
“I want to say congratulations to Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani," he said, wearing a white shirt and sporting a serious face as he congratulated his successor.
Mamdani’s win marks the beginning of the end of Adams' one term.
By Wednesday morning, the 110th mayor was already in transition mode.
“I wanted [Andrew] Cuomo to win? Yes, but he’s the pilot now. And all of my criticisms, all of my dislikes of his policies, all things the [Democratic Socialists of America] has done, to me that’s not significant now. He's the mayor now. Any mayor is going to get my 100% support because New York can’t fail," he told reporters.
