A shooting was reported in Sherman Oaks Wednesday during an attempted break-in at a home during daytime.

Police said people were inside the one when a group of people tried to break into the house on Otsego Street by smashing the back door at around 1 p.m..

One person inside the two-story house, which neighbors said is used as an Airbnb rental home, opened fire, scaring off the attempted burglars and forcing them to run away.

No one was injured.

Police said no one was arrested, and nothing was taken from home.

But the attempted break-in during daytime rattled neighbors, with some telling NBCLA that they feel “very apprehensive.” One of them said, prior to Wednesday’s incident, he didn't always lock his home doors
