California voters have approved Proposition 50, a measure allowing the state Legislature to redraw congressional district maps for the 2026, 2028, and 2030 elections.

According to preliminary results from the California Secretary of State , the measure passed with 63.8% support statewide, including roughly 65% approval in Santa Barbara County.

State election officials reported that nearly 7.7 million Californians cast ballots in the Prop. 50 special election on Tuesday, reflecting a statewide turnout of about 35% of the 22 million registered voters.

In Santa Barbara County, turnout was around 40%, with approximately 100,133 of 250,857 registered voters (11,270 polling cards and 88,863 mail-in) participating, according to the Santa Barbara County Registrar of Voters .
