Re “PM banks on debt to boost economy” (Editorial, Nov. 5): Got the flu, take an aspirin. Hemorrhoids, take an aspirin. Fractured legs, take an aspirin. Our doctor of economics, Mark Carney, prescribes the same remedy for an ailing Canada as did our doctor of DEI, Justin Trudeau. Spend taxpayer money. Strengthening our military is appropriate. The government is the employer. Otherwise, lower taxes, reduce regulations, shrink the civil service exponentially. Get the government ‘out of the way of the economy.’ Ronald Reagan was right about tariffs. He was also right in his insightful comment: “The nine most terrifying words in the English language are ‘I’m from the government, and I’m here to help.'”
