WHARTON, Texas – Wharton ISD is collecting clothing donations for its students that were impacted by an apartment fire early Wednesday morning.

The fire broke out at the Riverbend Apartment Complex located off Junior College Blvd. just after 2:30 a.m.

Firefighters say all eight units in the building were destroyed, and at least six of them were occupied.

A total of 15 residents lived in the complex. Officials say everyone made it out safely.

Officials say one firefighter suffered a minor injury while battling the flames but was treated on scene and returned to work.

Wharton ISD has released a list of clothes and shoes they are collecting as well as which campuses are taking the different clothes.
