EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) -- As a new activity zone opens to kids ready to play at Garvin Park in Evansville.
The project includes a new playground, basketball courts and new restrooms. Officials say this was funded as part of a $24,000,000 parks bond.
Evansville Mayor Stephanie Terry joined leaders and crews from the Parks and Rec department for a ribbon cutting.
“This is our department and the city fulfilling our promise to the community when the Deaconess Aquatics Center was built to put back a playground that was removed and rebuild some basketball courts,” says Parks and Rec Executive Director Danielle Crook. "So were here today to do that and cut the ribbon and officially open this first phase of Garvin Park renovations."
