India's love affair with Switzerland has entered a new chapter this winter, one where travellers are swapping famous landmarks for quiet mountain towns, cobblestoned lanes and fireside fondue. According to data from AI-powered travel platform Thrillophilia, Indians making bookings for Switzerland have risen by 41% year-on-year, with smaller towns witnessing an impressive 63% surge for stays between December and February.
The platform’s data reveals that Indian travellers, especially honeymooners and those from Tier-2 cities, are increasingly choosing to stay in lesser-known destinations over traditional favourites such as Interlaken and Lucerne. Grindelwald has seen a 78% jump in bookings, followed by Gstaad (71%), Pontresina (66%), Meiringen–Hasliberg (58%) and Andermatt (55%).
