The City of Nashville announced on Wednesday that it officially launched its Journey Pass, its "first-ever income-based free fair program" for residents of Davidson County. 

Though announced on the one-year anniversary of Mayor Freddie O'Connell's Choose How You Move transit referendum passing last year, authorizing a sales tax surcharge to expand the city's bus network, install new traffic lights, and build new sidewalks, the launch came one day after the victory of Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani in New York City, where the Ugandan-born Democrat promised to make buses free as part of his campaign.
