California’s newly approved congressional maps under Proposition 50 are shaking up the state’s political landscape. Democratic Congressman Ami Bera announced he will run in the redrawn District 3, which now includes parts of his current 6th District. The seat is currently held by Republican Kevin Kiley, who says he hasn’t yet decided where he’ll run since his district will be divided into six new ones. Former State Senator Richard Pan switched his campaign to District 6 following the new maps. Both Bera and Kiley say they’re focused on serving their constituents amid redistricting and the ongoing federal government shutdown.
